Schexnayder is also an award-winning children’s author/illustrator. University of Louisiana-Lafayette Press published my three-picture book series, In the Time Of (author/illustrator) in 2017-2019.  The Gumbo Gators (Pelican Publishing/Arcadia Publishing) was released in October 2022.  In 2024, Pelican published his board book, I Know My Louisiana Colors with another one, I Know My Texas Colors in 2025. The Gumbo Gators and the Swamp Circus was released in January 2025. Paul’s first early reader, The Adventures of Boudin Boy was published by Pelican in 2025.
